Pemco car insurance may be one of those options you haven't heard of before, but it's a company certainly worth looking into. Your Pemco car insurance policy can be tailored to fit your specific needs as a driver as you can choose from many options to include on your policy.

Building up from the basics

pemco car insurance1Most car insurance policies start with the basics, and that's liability coverage. States require licensed drivers to carry minimum levels of liability in both of its forms: bodily injury and property damage liability.

Bodily injury liability covers the medical expenses of people in the other vehicle if you are at fault in an accident. This coverage also pays for court defense costs. Property damage liability coverage will pay the bill if you or someone in your family is liable for damaging someone else's property while driving your insured car. At a minimum, you will want to be sure you have your state's required level of coverage for both of these types of liability.

Personal injury protection (PIP) will pay for medical expenses, income loss, and other related benefits and expenses for you and anyone who is in your vehicle during an accident. This coverage pays out regardless of who is found to be at fault for an accident and as such, it is sometimes referred to as no fault coverage. There are a few states that require licensed drivers to carry some form of no fault coverage. Pemco car insurance requires you to have liability coverage before you can add PIP to your policy.

Pemco also offers uninsured/underinsured motorists coverage in several forms. Underinsured motorists bodily injury coverage will pay for injuries sustained by anyone in your vehicle if you are involved in an accident with an uninsured or underinsured driver. Underinsured motorists property damage coverage will cover damages to your property (including your car) by an uninsured or underinsured driver. There are some states that require licensed drivers to carry uninsured/underinsured motorists coverage in addition to liability coverage.

Options worth considering

Collision coverage pays for any damage to your car that is the result of an auto accident, regardless of who is at fault, and it covers collisions with other cars, with objects, or rollover accidents.

Comprehensive coverage will pay for any damage to your vehicle due to causes other than a collision, including theft, fire, flying or falling objects, severe weather, floods, animals and vandalism.

Pemco car insurance can also be upgraded with:

  • Towing & labor coverage
  • Rental reimbursement
  • Auto accidental death
  • Auto loan endorsement

Here is a breakdown of these additional coverages that you can add to your auto insurance from Pemco:

Towing and labor coverage will pay for a tow truck and labor if your car breaks down.

Rental reimbursement coverage will pay for a car rental if your vehicle is in the shop due to an event that is covered under your car insurance policy. The default limit is $900 per occurrence, but you can purchase higher limits.

Auto accidental death will pay your spouse, other surviving members of your household or your estate the limit of the coverage you purchased if you are in an accident and are fatally injured.

Auto loan endorsement is designed for vehicles that are three years old or newer and it covers the unpaid balance of your car loan if it exceeds the value of the car at the time of an accident. If your car or truck can't be repaired, then PEMCO will pay the balance of the loan.
