If you are planning to purchase a compact SUV, you may want to consider getting the Hyundai Tucson. The price of this car is one of the lowest in its class, and its responsive performance, superior handling and comfortable interior will give you a pleasant driving experience. The following overview of the new Hyundai Tucson can help you decide whether this popular SUV is the right choice for you.

Overview

Hyundai Tucson priceThe Hyundai Tucson has a unique sculpted design that makes it look aggressive and sporty. Some of its notable exterior features include wraparound headlights, a two-tier grille and a sloping roofline. The interior of the Tucson is well designed and ergonomic, featuring easily accessible controls, comfortable seats, plenty of rear legroom, smooth window switches, and ample power outlets and input jacks.

The highest trim level comes with leather seats, heated front seats, an eight-way driver's seat with power lumbar support, dual automatic temperature control and an auto-dimming mirror with Homelink.

Engine and performance
Two engine options are available for the Hyundai Tucson: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 165 hp and a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with up to 176 hp. The base engine has fuel economy ratings of 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway with manual transmission and 22/29 mpg with automatic transmission.

The 2.4-liter engine, on the other hand, delivers 21/30 mpg and 20/27 mpg with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive respectively. The standard Tucson is equipped with a manual five-speed transmission, and the higher trims have an automatic six-speed transmission. The all-wheel drive is only available on the higher trims.

Price

Hyundai Tucson interiorWhen it comes to the Hyundai Tucson, price is one of the main attractions. The standard Tucson has a base price of a little more than $20,000, while the top-of-the-line model with the premium package and all-wheel drive retails at approximately $30,500.

Major competitors like the Toyota RAV4, Subaru Forester, Honda CR-V and Ford Escape cost significantly more than the Tucson, and they come with shorter warranties. Another reason so many car buyers choose the Tucson is its excellent resale value. Its resale value is higher than that of the RAV4 or the Forester.
