In 2012, BMW announced that for the first time, it would be extending its line of diesel cars to North America. The BMW 3 series represents a first in a series of planned launches. Engine
This years BMW 3 series brings with it several upgrades, the most notable of which can be found under the hood. Both the wagon and sedan have been equipped with a four-cylinder supercharged engine that delivers more power while also achieving more miles per gallon. The convertible and coupe trims, however, maintain the inline engine. The sedan is also equipped with power front seats and the German company's xDrive.
Fuel economy
Out on the road, the BMW Diesel 3 has the same stellar energy efficiency of older models. The 335i sedan offers similar fuel economy, with the automatic transmission getting 23 mpg in the city and 33 on the highway, while the manual transmission gets 20 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. The coupe is slightly less fuel efficient, with an economy rating of 19 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway for both the automatic and manual transmission.
Prices
The BMW 3 Series line comes with an affordable 320i trim and a hybrid option for users who are not sold on the efficiency of diesel engines. The following is a summary of the BMW diesel 3 series prices for the various trims:

Safety
Like earlier models, this upgraded German sedan has scored highly on car rankings and reviews.
