If you are looking for a car that offers value for your money, the Nissan Versa may be the right car for you. Despite its low price, this car performs well on the road. The Nissan Versa engine specifications will give you a good idea of the overall performance of this popular car.

Overview of the Nissan Versa

Nissan VersaThe Nissan Versa is somewhat plain in terms of styling, but its lack of good looks does not deter it from becoming one of the most sought-after subcompact cars in the United States. It is roomier than any other car in its class and even some compact and mid-size cars, and it comes with many comfort and high-tech features.

The Versa also provides a fine ride and handles relatively well. The car is available in four trim levels: S, S Plus, SL and SV. With a base price, including destination cost, that starts at $12,770, the 2013 Versa is the lowest-priced new car available on the market.

Nissan Versa specs

All Nissan Versa models are fitted with the same engine, that is, a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. This double overhead camshaft (DOHC) engine has 16 valves, and it can produce 109 hp at 6,000 rpm and 107 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. In a test conducted by Consumer's Guide, the base model of the Versa managed to make 0 to 60 mph in 9.5 seconds. While the engine may not be powerful, it is highly fuel efficient and environmentally friendly.

Nissan Versa fuel economy

Nissan VersaThe Nissan Versa comes with three transmission options, which include a manual five-speed transmission and an automatic four-speed transmission for the standard S models, and a CVT (continuously variable transmission) for the other models. When it is used in combination with an automatic CVT, the Versa's engine has fuel economy ratings of 31 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway.

With the manual transmission, it can deliver 27 mpg in the city and 36 mpg in the highway. If it is used with the automatic four-speed transmission, it can return 26 mpg in the city and 35 in the highway. The Versa's excellent fuel-efficiency ratings make it one of the cars with the lowest cost of ownership.
