Design degree for single parents: tips for going back to school

With a degree in a design field and a good portfolio, a single parent should be able to find a satisfying job as a web or graphic designer.

For any creative single parent person looking for a career change, design jobs are a good choice. If you become a freelancer, you can design games, websites or many other items. Many designers make good incomes as freelancers working from home. This is an excellent way to have a more flexible schedule while raising your children.

Many universities realize that a significant number of people in their student bodies are single parents. To keep single parents from dropping out of school and making it easier for them to complete their degrees, some colleges now provide support for parents. Many colleges have family housing or provide child care. Other colleges conduct workshops on how to juggle school, family and, in many case, a job as well.

When looking for a school for your design degree, you can look for art colleges and universities that offer online degree programs. This is a great way to get an education without having to commute to a college campus. Another option for single parents is a college that offers child care during school hours. Many parents go to school part time because they also have jobs. You might also find a program that offers classes held at night and on the weekends
