Nissan Altima

The company sold 302,934 units of the Altima, reflecting a 12.6 percent sale increase from the previous year. Critics praised the car's responsive steering and low-noise engine. Available in several body styles, prices for the best-selling sedan begin at $20,550.

Toyota Corolla

Toyota CorollaEquipped with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, the Toyota offers an affordable option to drivers. Prices for the sedan range from $16,130 to $17,990. Considered one of the best-selling cars of all time with more than 30 million units sold, the Toyota Corolla recorded total sales of 290,947 units, which ensured that it joined the top-five list of best-selling cars in 2012.

Honda CR-V

With 281,652 units sold, the Honda CR-V was the best-selling SUV in 2012. The sleek vehicle comes with a spacious interior, generous fuel economy, intuitive controls and responsive handling. Each trim is fitted with a standard automatic transmission and powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Prices range from $22,495 to $27,245.
