Every year, J.D. Power and Associates rank the top new cars on the market. Reading these reports will help you see which vehicles are the most dependable, and many manufacturers made the list of best initial quality reports for cars. This year saw vehicles from Buick, Lexus and several other companies on the list.

The list looks at reports from car owners involving cars that they purchased three years prior. For example, the latest list reports on the dependability of vehicles bought and sold in 2010.

For every problem reported, the organization adds a point to the rating of that car. Cars with the lowest overall score receive the highest marks on the best initial quality reports for cars. The top new car from 2010 was the Lexus ES 350. The average rating for sedans of this type was 126, but the ES 350 had a rating of 58, making it one of the best cars surveyed. Another Lexus car that received a good rating was the LS 460, which had a rating of 72. Other pricey cars on the list included the Audi A6 with a rating of 82 and the Lincoln MKZ with an 81 rating. If you can't afford the high price of these vehicles, you might take a look at the Buick Lucerne. Though it costs less than cars from Audi or Lexus, it had a good rating of 70.
