All-wheel drive vehicles are great for driving in adverse weather conditions. The increased traction offers better stability and control. Some of the best all-wheel drive cars available in 2013 are the Subaru Impreza, BMW X3 and the Chrysler 300C. While some of these cars are available with alternative transmissions, this article will only discuss the trims with all-wheel drive transmissions.

Subaru Impreza

Subaru Impreza - Best all-wheel drive carsThe Subaru Impreza has the lowest price of these three best all-wheel drive cars. It ranges from $17,895 to $22,995, depending on trim level you choose. The Impreza comes as a sedan or hatchback. The sedan comes in three trim levels: 2.0i Limited, 2.0i Premium and the 2.0i. The hatchback comes in the previous trim levels as well as the 2.0i Sports Premium and 2.0i Sports Limited.

Upgrading to a higher trim adds more options. Each trim level comes with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 148 hp. The two transmission options are the five-speed manual transmission or an automatic continuously variable transmission. The car gets good fuel economy, so you can expect 27 mpg in the city and 36 mpg while on the highway.

Chrysler 300C

Chrysler 300 CThe Chrysler 300C is the premium luxury edition of the Chrysler 300. It starts at $36,145, and it will cost $43,145 if you upgrade to the 300C John Varvatos. It's powered by a high-performance 5.7-liter eight-cylinder HEMI engine that produces 292 hp. The engine is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Chrysler used top-quality material to construct the luxurious leather and wood interior. Standard options include four-wheel disc brakes, curtain airbags, stability and traction control, satellite radio, memory driver seat, climate control and a navigation system. For an additional cost, you can add options such as blind spot detection, adaptive speed control and bi-xenon headlights. You can expect around 19 mpg in the city and 31 mpg if you're on the highway.

BMW X3

BMW X3The BMW X3 is available in two trim levels. The xDrive28i starts at $38,850, and the xDrive35i starts at $43,950. This is one of the best all-wheel drive cars if you're looking for a SUV. The xDrive28i comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 240 hp. The engine is attached to an eight-speed automatic all-wheel drive transmission.

This trim level gets 21 mpg driving in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Upgrading to the xDrive35i comes with a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that produces 300 hp.
