Chevy trucks are intended to appeal to the general market, but GMC trucks target professionals, according to the vice president of market intelligence for TrueCar, Jesse Toprak. Another difference, according to Toprak, is that GMC is often considered more exclusive than Chevy. The next question to ask yourself is whether the image is worth a higher price tag.
Most people will say that image isn't worth a higher price. The Chevy Tahoe 4WD 1500 LS has an MSRP of $41,176, and the GMC Yukon 4WD 1500 SLE is priced at about $42,721. These numbers show that Chevy will sell its trucks for about 4.3 percent less than sticker price and GMC is willing to provide a 5.3 percent price reduction. Yes, GM is trying to charge consumers more money for GMC trucks, but on the showroom floor, the difference evens out.
