It features a turbocharged five-cylinder engine for quick performance and smooth handling.

The vehicle gets 21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, which puts it at the bottom of its class in fuel efficiency. For those who prefer a convertible coupe, the C70 starts at $41,000 and features a retractable hardtop and some of the same classic features of the C30.

Volvo S Series

Volvo S80For those looking for more legroom, the S60 and S80 are ideal for larger families or for the executive who enjoys long vacations and road trips. The Volvo prices on both vehicles are in the $30,000 range with the S60 starting at $31,900 and the S80 starting at $39,100.

These upscale mid-sized vehicles offer luxury interiors and an attractive exterior design. Both come with a six-speed automatic transmission. The S60 gets slightly better gas mileage with 21 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway, while the S80 gets 19 in the city and 28 on the highway.

When comparing the Volvo sedans with the BMW 5 Series, the vehicle offers similar performance but uses less fuel.

Volvo XC60 interiorVolvo makes an excellent line of crossover vehicles including the XC60 compact SUV, the XC70 luxury wagon and the XC90 midsized SUV. The XC60 ranks three out of 10 in a US News analysis report.

The base model starts at $32,289 and comes with an optional six-cylinder turbocharged engine. It offers front-wheel drive and an average 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

Luxury options include touch-screen navigation, a rear-seat DVD entertainment system and plenty of cargo space for ball games and other events. Volvo's larger SUV the S80 starts at $37,318 and offers a comfortable ride, a sporty suspension and a third-row seat for growing families.

For those who want the room but who prefer the smaller body style of a car, the XC70 wagon offers plenty of cargo storage with all the luxury comforts of a sedan. The base price is $31,584.
