Ford Focus

Ford FocusThe new Ford Focus is an entry-level compact car. Prices start at $16,200 for the base trim level and go up to $39,200 for the electric model. The Focus is available as a sedan or hatchback. The three sedan trim levels are S, SE and Titanium, while the hatchback only comes in SE and Titanium.

Each trim level comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The S gets 26 mpg in the city and 36 mpg during highway driving; the SE gets 28 mpg during city driving and 40 mpg on the highway; and the Titanium gets 27 mpg around the city and 38 mpg on the highway.

A manual transmission is standard on the S and SE trim levels, while the Titanium comes standard with an automated manual transmission. Standard features on the S include an MP3 player, side and curtain airbags, stability control and traction control. The SE comes with all the S features in addition to Bluetooth support. The Titanium adds satellite radio and iPod support. A navigation system can be added to the SE or the Titanium at an additional cost.

Hyundai Accent

Compact car prices - Hyundai AccentThe Hyundai Accent can be purchased as a sedan or hatchback. The compact car's prices vary from $14,545 to $16,095, depending on the trim level you select. Each trim level comes with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 138 horsepower.

The Accent gets 28 mpg around the city and 37 mpg on the highway. The GLS Sedan starts at $14,545 and comes with standard features such as satellite radio, traction control, stability control and an iPod input.

For an additional $1,200, you can upgrade to the premium package, which gives the vehicle an improved interior. Premium cloth seats and chrome interior door handles are added. The GS Hatchback has all the features of the GS; however, the premium package cannot be added to this trim level. If you would like the premium package on the hatchback, you will need to purchase the SE trim level, which has all the features of the GS in addition to the premium package upgrade.
